About Me

It all began in 1999 - frustrated by my lack of progress following a cycling accident - I stumbled across a piece in a health periodical about Pilates. It made complete sense. Pilates had found me.

I chose to train with Michael King and, alongside his partner Malcolm, I would travel to the City of London over a two year period. Qualifying to teach both mat work Pilates and individual tuition.

My love and devotion to the Pilates method has never dimmed.

A bit about Michael:

Michael was originally a dancer at the London School of Contemporary Dance with the newly formed Pineapple Dance Studios, Convent Garden London. Two years later he was offered a position in Texas managing the Pilates studio at the Houston Ballet Company where he stayed until 1990. During this time sponsored by the Houston Ballet, Michael traveled across the USA visiting and training at studios. In New York, he studied with Corola Trier and with Romana Kryzanowksa at the original Pilates Studio. Michael also worked in the Voight Centre in Los Angeles for five years teaching fitness programs as as well as at many other Pilates Studios including Winsor Pilates in Los Angeles. He moved back to Europe in 1995, where following a two year contract in Switzerland, he returned to London.

Michael's training programs are now taught in over 30 countries worldwide and have been instrumental in the development of national and international standards in recent years.

Why Pilates?

Developed nearly a century ago, Pilates’ innovative method is more relevant today than ever before and can help relieve back pain and poor posture stemming from our sedentary habits and stressful lives.

Exercises are inspired by control, centre and flow. Described by Joseph Pilates as “the complete coordination of the body, mind and spirit”, Pilates activates your awareness to engage the muscles of the spine, abdominals and pelvic floor.

The goal of a Pilates practice is to increase overall strength and flexibility. Pilates movements can be (and are) adaptable and are therefore well-suited for all ages and fitness abilities. To become the best version of you: with a body that works with you and not against you.

Pilates mat class is a small-group format featuring a series of dynamic exercises focusing on the use of our “power house” muscles to stabilise and lengthen the body.

I emphasise Joseph Pilates’ original exercises while modifying movement and structure when needed to maximise benefit from the work. Focus is on proper alignment and mobility of the spine along with recruitment of the deep postural muscles to increase strength, flexibility and improve posture. This is all done in a relaxed and informal atmosphere to encourage interaction and friendship.
